Outdoor Amphitheater

Excavator Work
Completed Amphitheater
Granite Slabs

Overview + Key Features

Einstein's helped construct a new outdoor learning, lecture, and performance space with new reclaimed granite amphitheater, walkways and new plantings.

Challenges

There were a few challenges that the team faced during this project. This project had a fast-paced schedule and a short window to execute the work in the field. We were approved in August to begin the project, and had a finish date of September 20th. Additionally, our team ran into challenges with long lead times for both the re-claimed granite blocks as well as stair fabrication. To make sure the granite slabs and plants chosen were ideal for the project, we also needed to have multiple site visits with the design team.

Solution

Our team was able to navigate the challenges well. We were able to visit the Connecticut granite yard site and choose stone blocks requiring limited fabrication which was done on site, eliminating weeks of fabrication time and allowing us more time to focus on other parts of the project before the deadline. We pre-purchased the items we knew would have longer lead times earlier in the process and coordinated onsite storage for items arriving before we began working as well. Our team also had a list prepared for the plants we were aiming to purchase as well as potential substitutions to manage time well.

End Result

Both the client and the design team were pleased with the result of the project.
