Critical HVAC Infrastructure Upgrade

Office Space
Newly Renovated Office
Office Fit-Out

Overview + Key Features
The project centered on replacing rooftop air‑handling units serving a three‑story, multipurpose building in the busy Boston Seaport while keeping the facility fully active and conditioned throughout construction. This required maintaining continuous building operations as critical HVAC equipment was removed, replaced, and brought back online.

Challenges

  • Limited rooftop utilities constrained equipment selection. Both specified options presented integration issues with existing conditions, and the chosen solution required extensive pre‑purchase coordination to ensure controls met client requirements.

  • Maintaining building conditioning during the RTU swap‑out process.

  • Managing added scope introduced throughout the project.

Solution

  • Coordinated closely with the client’s engineering team, the engineer of record, the controls provider, and the equipment manufacturer to ensure proper system integration and control functionality.

  • Worked with AHJs and the client to execute safe and compliant crane picks along the Boston waterfront.

  • Provided temporary conditioning solutions to support one AHU while the other was replaced, then repeated the process for the second unit to maintain uninterrupted building comfort.

  • Leveraged experience and planning to anticipate and manage unknown existing‑condition issues effectively.

End Result

Einstein’s successfully coordinated, executed, and delivered the project on time and within budget, meeting all operational, safety, and performance expectations.
