2nd Floor Chem Storage

Overview + Key Features
This project focused on expanding the existing chemical storage laboratory to accommodate growing needs. As part of the expansion, the new ceiling had to meet the same high safety standards as the original structure. Specifically, it needed to be explosion-proof to ensure compliance and protection.
Challenges
Several unforeseen challenges emerged during the course of the project. The existing ductwork required modification to integrate with the expanded space, and the new ceiling not only had to be explosion-proof but also structurally reinforced to support technician access. In addition, the delivery of the critical bladder tank (which shipped from Italy) introduced extended lead times that impacted the project timeline.
Solution
Clear and consistent communication among all stakeholders was essential to overcoming these challenges. Our team worked closely with the Boston Fire Department to ensure the ceiling installation met all required safety standards. Coordinating the international delivery of the bladder tank demanded proactive planning and frequent updates to maintain alignment across the project timeline.
End Result
Despite the unexpected hurdles, the project was completed successfully. The newly expanded space is now fully functional, compliant, and better equipped to support the lab’s operational demands.
